garagejob > Marcia's A12 got a new face lift last week when I replaced the plastic and fuel tank with new
05 stuff. I purchased a new set of 2005 plastics and gas tank to convert her A12 into an A19.

Now we can ride together and we will both be on RED ones.
I know all it does is change the looks and she is still sporting around on an A12, but it sure looks good
dressed up as an A19

garagejob > Ok it took a while but I finally found a used KLR 650 that I could buy. I found this one on the net, chatted with the owner via e-mail several times, then he calls and we settle on a price so the wife and drive 325 miles to pick it up. It is an A12 or 98 model, mostly stock with 14,000 miles on it. The P O had done the doohickey, T-mod, and drilled holes in the side covers so you don't have to take them off to get the seat off. We bought it Feb 14th 2005, I tell my wife it was her Valentines Day Present, but she still wants a trike, flowers and candy.

On 04-10-05 Marcia and I met 50 or so other riders in Corbin Ky. at Sonny's BBQ for lunch. There were riders from 13 states and 2 contries there. Four KLRs showed up for this MTF (motorcycle tourers forum) lunch gathering. Two of the KLRs there had been lowered 2" and Marcia sat on one. She decided then that she could handle the KLR if it was lowered, so this A12 got dropped 1 1/2 " and a costum seat that lowered the rider another 1-2".

She has now laid claims on it after we met Floyd and Kathy (from Mortimer NC) for lunch in Weber City Va. Marcia and I took 25E to 58 to 23 in Weber City where we ate lunch. After lunch and a visit with a nice couple we hit 11W on the way home. We turned onto 31 and crossed the mountian into Sneedville Tn where we picked up 63 and rode 63 back to Harrogate Tn. From 11W to Harrogate is a highly recomended ride.

We put on 200 miles that day and Marcia did really good on the KLR 650.. With it lowered and with the lowered seat she had plenty control of the bike while stopped and in parking lots. On the hwy the height isn't really a concern, but when you are stopped, or trying to push it backwards to turn it around, it is much better if your feet can touch the ground.

This year when we take off on a trip we will be riding two KLRs, not 2 up on 1 KLR.
garagejob > This is the third bike I bought in the summer of 2004. After figuring out the DR 200 was too small my wife bought me the KLR. I needed a bike my younger brother could ride and stay with the Hardley my older brother has and my A 18. This one came up so I bought it hoping to sell it to my brother really quick. Well he got the bike. Two weeks later he lost it in a curve, totaled the bike, cut himself up pretty good and broke his back. (T-7) He has healed up pretty much and we bought the bike back from then insurance company and had it repaired. So now it has a rebuilt title. Who cares the bike is almost as good as new, with the exceptions of few dings and scratches, It is a D/S afterall.

The new addition is a 2004 Suzuki V-STROM 650, or the DL 650.

This will be the bike we use for riding together. I don't think it will be as comfortable as a wing,
or one of the big cruiser harleys, but them who would ride them down gravel roads. I like riding
where ever I want to and not having to worry about polishing the chrome.
garagejob > My A18 Kawasaki KLR 650

This is my A18 KLR 650, with my four door four wheel drive 1998 Ford Ranger in the back ground .

My wife purchased this for me May 22 2004, I picked it up at a dealer in London Ky.

She followed me home in the truck, as I put the frist 55 miles on it. I have a GOOD wife. Agreed?
garagejob > can't have a web site with my toys and not include my wife's toys.

So here is a couple pictures with her 1998 TJ, and her 98 A12
garagejob > The first bike I bought in over 25 years was this DR 200 SE. I was looking for a DS, what we used to call a on/off back in the day.I looked for a couple months, tried to buy several on the net but was always out bid. I came across this one in Corbin Ky on the side of the road. It is a 2003 and had 423 miles on it when I bought it, in may of 2004. It didn't take me long to realize it was too small for what I wanted. It was perfect for running around here in Middlesboro, but if I got on 25E it didn't have what it takes. I had to have a d/s that I could ride with my older brother that has an Electra glide and the DR 200 just wasnt it.

My wife Marcia has laid claims on the 200 untill we find her a bigger one, possibly a sportster, she don't care for the gravel roads, or rocks. So it doesn't have to be a dual sport.
garagejob > The DR 200 was sold in the spring of 2005, after Marcia decided she could handle the KLR 650.
